Door entry and intercom systems that keep working
Audio and video entry for offices, blocks and managed buildings, from a single street door to multi-tenant panels with fob access and app answering. Installed properly, maintained on contract.
The front door is the system tenants judge you by
A dead intercom generates more complaints than almost any other building fault, and in managed blocks it becomes a security problem within days: doors wedged open, trades buzzed in blind, fobs shared. We install entry systems built for that reality, vandal-resistant panels, proper cable routes, and handsets or app answering that residents actually use.
Video entry that records identifiable people carries the same UK GDPR duties as CCTV. We configure retention and signage at commissioning so your managing agent is covered, not exposed.
Where the entry door is also on access control or must release on the fire alarm, we wire and test that interface to BS 7273-4, one system, one test record, no gap between installers.
What's included
- Audio and video entry panels, single door to multi-tenant
- Fob and keypad entry, with managed fob registers
- Handset, monitor or smartphone-app answering
- GDPR retention and signage for video entry
- Fire alarm release interface to BS 7273-4 where fitted
- Maintenance contracts with 24/7 callout for failed doors
Faults on contracted systems are answered by the group's 24/7 line, a block door that will not lock is not a next-week problem.
Can you replace just the broken panel, or is it a full rewire?
Usually the panel or handsets can be replaced on the existing cabling, we survey first and tell you which.
Older analogue risers often support modern replacement panels. Where the cabling is genuinely at end of life we quote the rewire honestly, with the disruption stated up front.
Do residents need a handset in every flat?
No. Modern systems can ring a wall monitor, an existing phone or a smartphone app, mixed per flat.
That flexibility matters in blocks where some residents want hardware and others just want their phone to buzz. We configure per tenancy and leave the managing agent a register.
Who manages fobs when tenants change?
You can, through a simple register we set up, or we manage it under the maintenance contract.
Lost fobs are deleted rather than the locks changed. Under contract we keep the register current at each visit, so an audit shows exactly who can open what.
Better bundled: door entry costs less and works harder inside a combined fire & security contract with one renewal and one certificate pack.

How long do door entry systems usually last?
Panels and handsets commonly run fifteen years or more, but the limiting factor is spares and the cabling, not the age. Where a panel is obsolete we can often reuse the existing risers and replace only the head-end and station, which is a fraction of a full rewire.
Can a door entry system be replaced without rewiring the block?
Often, yes. Several current systems run on the existing two-wire or coax infrastructure, which avoids the disruption and cost of new risers through occupied flats. We survey the cabling first and tell you honestly whether reuse is viable before quoting.
Do you handle communal blocks and leaseholder consultation?
Yes. We price in a form that works for service charge budgets and Section 20 consultation, with the specification and costs set out clearly enough to go to leaseholders. Property managers get the paperwork they need without having to rewrite our quote.
What happens when a door entry system fails out of hours?
It is treated as a reactive callout. A block with a failed entry system is both a security and an access problem, so contracted clients get priority attendance and we make the entrance safe and secure the same visit even where a part has to be ordered.
Would rather we called you?
Leave a number and a name. An engineer calls you back the same working day, and you can have the whole conversation in five minutes.
