Fire safety compliance for retail

Stores cannot close for testing and staff turnover eats fire safety knowledge. Retail contracts are built around trading hours, simple staff-facing documentation and multi-branch scheduling.

Your position

Serviced around trading, documented for head office

Retail servicing happens before doors open or after they close, agreed per store, so a bell test never empties a shop floor on a Saturday. For estates, visits are batched geographically and reported centrally: one schedule, one invoice, one certificate pack per branch in a format your compliance team can file without reformatting.

Stockrooms are where retail fire risk actually lives: high racking, cardboard, charging stations for handhelds and e-bikes, and detectors that have not been reviewed since the layout changed. Our first visit maps detection against the current use of the space, not the plan from the fit-out.

Staff churn means the person who knew where the panel was has usually left. Every serviced store gets a one-page panel guide, laminated by the panel and stored in the portal, covering silence, reset and who to call, written for a new starter on their first shift.

What a contract covers for you

  • Servicing scheduled outside trading hours, agreed per store
  • Multi-branch estates batched and reported centrally
  • Stockroom and back-of-house detection reviewed against current use
  • One-page panel guide for staff, kept current
  • False alarm reduction to protect trading time
  • Per-branch certificate packs for head office
How maintenance contracts work
Asked by retail operators

Can fire alarm testing be done outside trading hours?

Yes, and for retail it should be. We schedule servicing before opening or after close as standard for trading premises.

Out-of-hours servicing costs no extra on contract; it is simply how the schedule is built. Weekly user tests can still be done by staff at low-footfall times with a simple procedure we provide.

We have branches across the North West. Can one contract cover them all?

Yes. Multi-site contracts carry one renewal date, central reporting and per-branch certificates, with visits batched to keep costs down.

Adding or closing a branch is a variation, not a renegotiation. Head office sees the whole estate in the portal; each store manager sees only their branch.

Next step: a free compliance check of your store or estate, with a written summary and a fixed contract price.

Would rather we called you?

Leave a number and a name. An engineer calls you back the same working day, and you can have the whole conversation in five minutes.
