Qualified in fire, trained as electricians
Every Praetor engineer who signs a certificate holds the Level 3 Award in the Requirements of Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems for Buildings (BS 5839-1:2025), including the emergency lighting programme, carries an ECS card, and is DBS checked for work in care settings and schools.
Underneath the fire qualifications sits an electrical trade. Our engineers come up through SB Group's electrical companies, which means fault-finding at circuit level, proper containment and terminations, and no waiting for "the electrician" to attend separately, because the fire engineer is one.
Manufacturer training is maintained on the panel ranges we service most: Advanced, Kentec, C-TEC, Morley-IAS and Hochiki, with closed-protocol arrangements available where a building is locked to a specific brand.

What the company carries
Ask for the certificate numbers, the insurance schedule and RAMS for your site: they go out the same working day, because that is the test that separates real accreditation from a logo strip.
Insurance
We carry public liability, employers’ liability and professional indemnity cover appropriate to the work, including design. Current levels are set out in our terms, and the schedule itself goes to any client or prospective client on request.
Company details
Praetor trades as part of SB Group, Manchester. Full registered company details, registration number and registered office appear on every quotation, contract and certificate we issue, and are available on request before you engage us.
Vetting & conduct
Engineers arrive in uniform, carry ID, sign in to your site procedures and leave the workspace as found. RAMS are issued before first attendance on every contracted site.
